About
Cal.com is a scheduling platform that helps individuals and organizations book meetings without the back-and-forth of finding a suitable time. Users connect their calendars, set their availability, and share a booking link. Visitors can then choose an available slot, making it easier to arrange appointments while reducing scheduling conflicts.
Users can create meeting types, set appointment lengths, add buffers between sessions, and limit how often they can be booked. These controls help people protect focused work and avoid overloaded calendars. Booking pages can be shared directly or embedded in a website, giving customers, candidates, and colleagues a convenient way to schedule time.
For teams, Cal.com supports shared scheduling workflows. Collective events help coordinate meetings involving several hosts, while round-robin scheduling distributes bookings among available team members. These options are useful for sales calls, recruiting interviews, customer support, and other situations where appointments need to reach the right people.
Cal.com's out-of-office feature lets users block periods when they are unavailable and optionally redirect bookings to a teammate. This helps maintain coverage during vacations, travel, or other absences. Scheduling availability remains distinct from formal HR leave approval or PTO accounting.
The platform also offers automated workflows, reminders, integrations, and payment collection for bookings. These features reduce repetitive coordination and support services such as consultations or paid appointments.
Developers can use Cal.com's APIs, webhooks, and scheduling components to integrate booking into their own products and connect it with other systems.
Cal.com's purpose is to make availability easy to share and appointments easy to arrange, while giving individuals and teams control over when, how, and with whom they meet.
Connect Cal.com’s out-of-office (OOO) feature with Deel’s paid time off (PTO) workflow so employees can manage their availability and submit leave requests without repeating dates.
When an employee creates an OOO entry in Cal.com, they could choose “Request time off in Deel,” review dates, and select a leave category. The integration would submit a request to their linked Deel profile, while Deel would remain responsible for approvals and leave accounting.
The connection should distinguish PTO from other unavailability. Business travel, conferences, and focus time can block bookings without consuming leave. Only entries explicitly selected for submission should create a Deel request.
Cal.com should display clear statuses such as “Submitting,” “Pending approval,” “Approved,” or “Needs attention,” with a link to the corresponding Deel record. Blocking availability must never imply that leave has been approved. Organizations should decide if pending requests block bookings.
Changes need equally clear handling. Editing or deleting an OOO entry should explain what happens to the linked PTO request. Where an amendment or cancellation requires action in Deel, employees should get a link and instructions.
Administrators would connect accounts, verify employee mappings, and configure supported leave categories. The integration should preserve local dates across timezones, prevent duplicate submissions, retry temporary failures safely, and transfer only needed information. Private leave details should never appear on public booking pages.
An initial release could support full-day vacation requests for a tested set of Deel worker configurations, then expand.
The goal: enter dates once, keep scheduling and leave records aligned, and give employees a clear view of their request through approval.
